FAQ

1. What is HPMC K100 used for in construction materials?

Landercoll® HPMC K100 is mainly used as a water retention and thickening agent in dry-mix mortars. It improves workability, reduces water loss, and helps achieve stable open time in products such as tile adhesive, wall putty/skim coat, gypsum plaster, and repair mortar.

2. What viscosity range does HPMC K100 provide?

Landercoll® HPMC K100 typically offers a viscosity of 85,000–110,000 mPa·s (2% solution, 20°C). It is considered a high-viscosity grade, suitable for formulations requiring strong water retention and improved sag resistance.

3. What is the difference between HPMC K100, K75, and K150?

K75: Medium viscosity, balanced performance, easier application; K100: Standard high-viscosity grade, best balance of workability and water retention; K150: Higher viscosity, stronger water retention and anti-sag performance . 👉 K100 is the most commonly used “general-purpose high-performance grade” in construction dry-mix mortars.

4. What problems can occur if HPMC K100 dosage is too high?

Overdosing may lead to: Over-thick mortar consistency; Reduced strength development; Slower setting behavior; Difficult troweling in application

5. What is the shelf life of HPMC K100?

Standard shelf life is 24 months when stored in: Dry conditions; Sealed packaging; Away from moisture and heat

6. Can HPMC K100 improve crack resistance?

Yes. By improving water retention and hydration efficiency, HPMC K100 helps reduce: Shrinkage cracking; Surface powdering; Poor curing defects
