Recommended HPMC Dosage for Different Tile Adhesive Types

Tile Adhesive: Adjust the dosage according to desired anti-slip and open time performance. The recommended dosage for LANDERCOLL (r) HPMC is K200 or K100, which will ensure the basic requirements of water retention and workability.

For C1/C2 grades with higher performance requirements, you can increase the dosage to improve anti-slip, open time and other properties.

Wall Putty/Skim Coat : LANDERCOLL (r) HPMC can be added to the appropriate range of LANDERCOLL HPMC in order to increase water retention, reduce cracking and improve the smoothness when batch scraping.

Self-Leveling compounds: LANDERCOLL (r) HPMC is a self-leveling compound that can be used in a moderate dose to adjust viscosity. It also helps delay water evaporation and improves fluidity.

In a European construction project, vertical exterior wall tiling with large-format vitrified tile (low water absorbency) is a real-world case.

Two key challenges faced the project: tile slippage during vertical installation due to gravity, and an insufficient amount of open time caused by construction at high temperatures, resulting in hollowing and poor adhesive.

The project was able to achieve significant improvements by incorporating LANDERCOLL (r) modified HPMC into the formulation of the tile adhesive: the open-time was extended in order to meet the needs on-site, the antislip performance was enhanced and tile displacement was avoided.

The tile adhesive was tested after construction and met EU EN 12004 grade C2 standards. There were no issues with detachment or hollowing.
